Cyprus tour

💫 On January 4th the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra began the Cyprus tour. The orchestra takes part in the “Russian Winter” arts festival, which takes place in different cities of Cyprus. The orchestra went on tour with a new show program, which included popular New Year and Christmas tunes. Also, the artists of the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra will present a performance for kids with Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden, as well as funny, bright, adorable characters who will put a real New Year’s show that will grant an unforgettable emotions to all the listeners! In Cyprus, the orchestra’s concerts will take place in Nicosia, Paphos, Larnaca and Limassol. The organizers of the “Russian Winter” festival are the Embassy of Russia, the Russian House in Cyprus and the Vyacheslav Zarenkov’s Charity Foundation “The Creative World”.

Medal “In Commemoration of the 800th Anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod”

Today, the Armorial Hall of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair helps a solemn presentation of medals “In memory of the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod”. This award was given to Evgeny Petrov – artistic director and chief conductor of the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Honorary Citizen of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, professor of the Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory named after M.I. Glinka.

The first festival of orchestral brass and percussion instruments named in honor of V.N.Dosadin

💥 The Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra will perform with a concert program at the Gnesins Russian Academy of Music. As part of the First N. Dosadin Festival of Orchestral Brass and Percussion Instruments, the orchestra will present a show, consisting of pieces specially written for a brass band and settings of modern performers. Orchestra will perform with the soloists – Timofey Punko (trumpet) – laureate of all-Russian and international competitions and Ivan Pyatkov (baritone) – laureate of all-Russian and international competitions, winner of the “Golden Nutcracker” international television competition, finalist of the television project of the 6th season “Blue Bird”, scholarship of the fund V. Spivakov and the New Names Foundation D. Matsuev.

🎺 The parade of brass bands passed through Bolshaya Pokrovskaya

A spectacular festival of brass bands took place on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya street. Teams from Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Samara, Perm, Pavlov, Bogorodsk participated in this event.

At first, the orchestras played at four venues and then marched along Bolshaya Pokrovskaya street.

The parade ended on Minin and Pozharsky Square, with a large united show.

Let us remind you that the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra celebrated City Day in new costumes. Musicians in blue livery with gold chevrons became the main decoration of the holiday.

🎶 The Orchestra Festival will take place in Nizhny Novgorod on August 21


It will welcome 8 orchestras from Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Samara, Perm, Pavlov, Bogorodsk.
The festival will begin at 11 am with orchestras at four venues on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street: by the Museum of the History of Art Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Volga-Vyatka State Institution of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the Palace of Culture of Y. Sverdlov and the Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Drama Theater of M. Gorky.
Then musical bands will march in a column from the building of the former “Oktyabr” cinema along the main pedestrian street of the city to the Minin and Pozharsky Square, where a united concert will take place.
The festival program will continue with solo concerts of orchestras at various festive venues in the city. Their performances will be accompanied by vocal and dance performances by invited artists.

Festival schedule:
11:30 – Solo performances of the orchestras at their dedicated spots
12:00 – Formation of a column of orchestras near the former “October” cinema, the start of movement along Bolshaya Pokrovskaya street
13: 00-14: 30 – Performances of orchestras on Minin and Pozharsky square
15:40 – 18:00 – Performances of orchestras at various venues of the gala show in city districts

Information for spectators
The entrance to the gala show venues in the districts of Nizhny Novgorod will be free and without preliminary registration, but it will require special passes in the form of “Multipass 800”, bracelets obtained from by showing one of the following documents, or directly by one of the documents:
● certificate of COVID-19 vaccination (QR-code from EPGU);
● negative laboratory test result for COVID-19 by PCR method (validity period – no more than 3 days);
● a negative result of a rapid test for SARS-CoV-2 virus antigens (validity period – no more than 3 days);
● certificate of immunization (QR-code from EPGU);
● the result of a test for the presence of IgG immunoglobulins to COVID-19 in the range of positive reference values of the used test system(validity period – no more than 60 days).

Presentation of new costumes at the IV International Fashion Week “Matryoshka Fashion Week”

🥼Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra performed in new concert costumes for the first time!

We presented the new costumes at the IV International Fashion Week “Matryoshka Fashion Week”. The ensemble members will perform in the new look at events dedicated to the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod.

The new design of the concert costumes of the Governorate Orchestra was selected in a competition held by the Ministry of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in cooperation with the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Union of Designers of Russia. 24 sketches were sent by authors from the Nizhny Novgorod and Ivanovo regions, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Irkutsk, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. Elena Babinova from Sarov won the competition. At the gala show, she also presented two of her collections, and as part of the general awards ceremony for the participants, she received a winner’s diploma.
She prepared her work in collaboration with Zhanna Kachanovich from Great Britain.

New concert costumes for men consist of elongated trench coats and trousers, for women – skirts and jackets. Also, the costumes are complemented by high hats. The clothes are decorated with gold embroidery, traditional for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

All-Russian festival of brass bands “On the hills of Manchuria”

The Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra will participate in the wind music festival in Samara!

On June 26 and 27, 2021, the All-Russian Festival of Brass Bands “On the Hills of Manchuria” will be held in Samara. The musical event is dedicated to the first performance of the famous Russian waltz “On the Hills of Manchuria”.

As a part of the festival, a procession of orchestras will march through the city center, with each orchestra giving a solo concert. The program will end with a united performance of the waltz “On the Hills of Manchuria”.

💥 The countdown clock to the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod appeared in Moscow’s Zaryadye Park!

✨ The Nizhny Novgorod Provincial Orchestra participated in the opening ceremony of the countdown clock to the 800th anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod. The clock was installed in the capital’s Zaryadye Park.
The event was attended by First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of Russia Sergei Kirienko, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, and Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin.
The clock is made in the form of a golden egg split into two parts, one with an electronic scoreboard counting down to the start of the anniversary. The installation is based on the concept of a clock created by the Nizhny Novgorod mechanic-inventor Ivan Kulibin in the 18th century.

Anniversary of the artistic director and chief conductor Yevgeny Petrov!

The Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra gave a concert in honor of the anniversary of the artistic director and chief conductor Yevgeny Petrov!

The Honored Artist of the Russian Federation turns 65. Huge creative potential and desire to enrich the cultural life of Nizhny Novgorod led Petrov in 1998 to the creation of the “Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra”. His personality made it possible to unite musicians of different generations and interests in a new band, and he has been an eternal leader from the moment of its foundation.

Almost two dozen pieces were performed on the stage, which has become the signature of the orchestra. These include pop hits such as “Dancing Queen” by ABBA, “Eternal Love” by Charles Aznavour, and Georges Garvarenz.

Also, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Regional Minister of Culture Oleg Berkovich presented the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and Honorary Citizen of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Yevgeny Petrov with gratitude from the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin.

“NemanFest-2021”

🏆 In April 2021, the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra participated in the I International Festival Competition of Brass, Pop-Jazz Orchestral, and Ensemble Music “NemanFest-2021”, which was held online in Stolbtsy, Belarus. Based on the results of auditions of the competitive program, the Nizhny Novgorod Governorate Orchestra was awarded the Grand Prix Diploma in the nomination “Professional orchestra (pop performance)”!
🥇 Also our musicians participated in the competition in the nomination “Professional ensemble (wind instruments)”. The performances presented by the ensembles were highly noted by the members of the international jury – all wind instruments bands, without exception, received the 1st-degree Diplomas!
